A theory about the Pure Vessel

The Pure Vessel has a plethora of new attacks and maneuvers that it has that the Hollow Knight doesn't have. My theory is that through the course of training the new Hollow Knight, instead of nail arts and spells, the Hollow knight was taught these moves by long-forgotten masters, and when it was consumed by madness and infection, it was too decrepit to remember or execute these attacks. The Pure Vessel is the Hollow Knight before being imprisoned and corrupted by the Radiance. If there were ever a sequel, my theory is that you would throughout the game learn the moves that the Pure Vessel uses. That's my head canon anyway.
