Comment of the Day:
When Shion asks Mion if "Hinamizawa's serial mysterious deaths are responsible for the dam war?" it may sound like an odd phrasing to an English speaker. However, the word Shion uses for 'Responsible' is the word Kejime which I mentioned in the episode 17 comment of the day.
To recap, it means to make a distinction, to draw the line, or in this case a punishment to make up for wrongdoing. In other words, she asks if the deaths are Kejime for the dam war (and the dam proponents), just like how her ripping out her nails were Kejime for what she and those who helped her had done.
Please refrain from posting any kind of spoilers, hints, or revelations of any kind that exist beyond the current episode. Make use of spoiler tags if you must. I ask every rewatcher to help crack down on these.

GUYS. I’m currently living an American Horror Story in Starbucks thanks to an MLM hun.
So I’m here in Starbucks trying to get a coffee fix. There’s an MLM hun in here with her SIX children. She is showing a woman all of her nail art samples (Jamberry maybe?) while her kids run wild through Starbucks. Of course, this lady cares way too much about making a sale to discipline her kids, so they’re disrupting everyone and even managed to spill gum balls all over the floor. She didn’t even bother to pick up the gum. Just kept up with her sales pitch. The potential buyer was eating it up. I’ve seen it all and thank the lord in heaven above the barista just called my name...

Single Game Recomendations
Commented Recomendations
Space Rangers HD for $3.74 USD. One of my favorite indie space RPG simulation games. Good amount of depth and replay value. Didn't care for the RTS aspect of the game, but you can skip it. Runs on most potato computers. {/u/Jadeddev}
I wonder if you'd also like Drox Operative. That was a hidden gem I picked up and adored a year or two ago. It's similar, in that you're playing an RPG character inside the equivalent of an RTS for the AI factions... And your actions can help elevate (or destroy) factions... {/u/Oneiricl}
Stephen's Sausage Roll is $5.99. It's an incredible movement-based puzzle game. It's not for everyone, but if you like Snakebird, Jelly No Puzzle, etc. this is amazing. {/u/TurtleInSunglasses}
Recursed is a fantastic pure puzzle game with a rather unique mechanic. Think Inception's dream-within-a-dream system, but with puzzle rooms and way, way more complex. It gets fiendishly difficult, but if you are a fan of games like Escape Goat or Braid, it is worth picking up. {/u/OptikalCrow}
Night in the Woods for 14.99$ if you enjoy a story rich game about real life issues filled with deep, interesting and funny dialogues, or want to live in your 20s again. {/u/theheartbenvn}
Last sale, someone in one of these threads sold me on DROD. The discount's not as good this time around (50% off) but if you like your puzzles to be as deceptively evil as possible you really can't do much better. {/u/thatnerdguy}
La-Mulana (67% off/$4.94 USD) is easily my favorite Metroidvania game currently around. It was originally an indie game for PC styled after the MSX. This remake brings it into a more 16-bit style, while still retaining the crushing difficulty. The puzzles in the late game are of a Myst variety, in that a notebook or strategy guide is required. Not for the faint of heart, you will die at a roughly Dark Souls rate. {/u/MaverickLunarX}
Treasure Planet: Battle of Procyon - $2.99 This is far from most people's radar. Risen from the dead and added to Steam, this is more of a gem than 99% of the usual suspects we find in these threads. It's a cheap game with spaceship/fleet battles and more of the Treasure Planet universe. Sure, maybe not the most enthralling space game ever but (I think) it's at least a thrill for those of us who enjoyed the film. {/u/Krylo22}
Next Jump: Shmup Tactics is my frickin' new addiction. Very charming FTL-like premise (Rogue-like spaceship adventure) crossed with turn-based tactical movement/attacks (you take your turn of 2+ actions, and then enemy takes their turn). You can pick up stray energy pellets to replenish your actions, extending your turn into a chain of destruction. {/u/moo422}
Linelight. It's $4.99. It takes 4-8 hours depending on how clever you are and how much of a completionist you are. It's a puzzle game with gorgeous music, clever puzzles, and just enough time to fully explore its idea before leaving on a high note. This game is elegant, clever, and worth its full price. {/u/jbhalper}
Scourge of War: Waterloo Collector's Edition $23.69 "Scourge of War: Waterloo follows in the footsteps of its American Civil War predecessors and takes the action to one of the most famous battles in history. It is by far the most detailed game about the final battle of the War of the Seventh Coalition." {/u/InconceivableAD}
Check out Lemma. The discount isn't as high as I would have liked, considering its been bundled in the past, but still highly recommended. Its basically a first person parkour runner that IMO kicks the shit out of Mirror's Edge. I haven't even played 2 and I still say its superior, its that good. {/u/Yo2Momma}
I`m putting a recommendation in for Simulacra, its 35% off right now (~$3.50 usd I think, not from there). I bought it on my phone yesterday (didn't realise it was on steam) and was up until about 1am playing it. Fantastic lost phone game that turns creepy with a few different endings so quite a bit of replayability. {/u/bullchicken}
Quantum Conundrum is a nice portal-ish puzzle game. Right now the game is discounted to 0,98€ and all the DLC are discounted to 1,99€. But if you go to the page for the Quantum Conundrum DLC: The Desmond Debacl, you can buy the Season Pass for 0,99€, which contains both the game and all of the DLC. {/u/WhoopDeedooBasil}
Shout out for Retro/Grade. It's a rhythm shooter game where you control a space ship going backwards through time after causing a time anomaly. The music is electronic with lots of synth and some vaporwave neon aesthetics. Easy recommend to anyone who likes music games. {/u/SrVekter}
I've been getting back into Dreamcast games lately and played Space Channel 5, a short but fun crazy rhythm game that I had never heard of. I looked it up and found out that there was a sequel Space Channel 5 Part 2 and it was on Steam and happened to be only $1.19 on sale. It fixes many of the issues of the first game and is a lot of fun especially if you like insane Japanese games and 60s scifi. The Dreamcast Collection is also a few dollars more and I recommend it if you've never played any of those games. {/u/whaaa123}
Non-Hidden Gem Thread
Dead Cells Is one of my favorite games to come out in the last year. I have played it since it was first out in early access and I have played every patch. I can say that it is currently the best version it has ever been ever! I always tell myself "one more run" but end up playing for another hour. {/u/KittyCatFish}
I'm not a great believer in gems, but I believe (Valkyria Chronicles) is a hidden gem of this sale. I just had a few discussions with redditors about JRPG's, and this one seems to be an amazing port and visually is just better than some of the AA jrpg games from recent years. It's a JRPG XCOM in an imaginary WW2 basically.
I want to recommend A Hat in Time, which is one of my favorite platformers in recent memory. I know I'm probably in the minority, but I'll honestly say I thought it had more charm and humor than Super Mario Odyssey last year, and I honestly enjoyed it more. I'm also returning to it again after finishing it months ago because of the mod support they implemented, which is allowing people to make their own levels and items for the game. 2017 was filled with great games, but this was a suprisingly big standout for me. {/u/iverdawg}
Silver Grapple is a late addition to the sale, discounted to a historical low. It's like Cave Story meets Celeste with a grappling hook, and it's an underappreciated gem. It's being run for Summer Games Done Quick so I think they delayed the sale to coincide with that. {/u/CodependentlyWealthy
If you're looking for a couch/local co-op I just want to put in a plug for Hidden In Plain Sight. I purchased it last night to play with my daughter and she's crazy for it and pulled a few more people in to play for a couple of hours. I was reading on the reviews that it's only made by one person so it looks a little bland but the gameplay is crazy fun. {/u/greenplasticreply}
Less Commented Recommendations
Firewatch ($4.99/-75) Great story-driven game. Historical low on Steam. Great story-driven game. Historical low on Steam {/u/Dweezy}
Solitairica for $2.49. Fun little rougelite (!) Solitaire {/u/smismismi}
throne of lies is a nice indie mafia/werewolf game at $5 {/u/Coronatum}
Some of you here might want to try Salt and Sanctuary. It's a 2D Souls-lite game, really enjoyed it. {/u/ebilutionist}
Waves -- Stylish twin stick shooter. Various game modes, better than Geometry Wars, IMO. $0.99 (80% off) {/u/msgs}
FTL: Faster Than Light A surprisingly addictive 2D game that is 75% off its already cheap price of $9.99. Picked it up last summer sale, definitely a good buy. {/u/EddySea}
Code 7 is 30% off at $11.89! (First big sale!) A Hacking Adventure with a strong focus on story and characters and full voice-over. {/u/retraffic}
Rogue trooper , fun scifi shooter, a bit on the easier side {/u/vsh92}
Super Cloudbuilt ($9.99 / 50% off) is an extremely fun and challenging parkour game that is built for speedrunning. The original 2014 Cloudbuilt is also on sale for $4.99 / 75% off {/u/RobbyRatpoison}
Check out Run or Die. This is a fun endless runner that is only 49 cents. {/u/properbite}
Crypt of the NecroDancer is on sale for $2.99 from $14.99. It's a rogue-like dungeon crawler with rhythm aspects. Quite fun! {/u/--Petrichor--}
Strongly recommend Iron Fisticle Great little arena shooter with local Co-op EDIT: Get Iron Crypticle instead {/u/vizolover}
Zombie Estate 2 https://store.steampowered.com/app/512490/Zombie_Estate_2/ You might remember Zombie Estate from the XBLIG days.{/u/volt1up}
Zheros is 70% off (historical low): a colorful, vibrant, cartoony, 3D beat 'm up. {/u/imp_Patient}
GTA V actually dropped to $20 on Steam. Miracles can happen.
mark of the ninja at $3.74 is a straight up steal. can't recommend that game enough if you have even a passing interest in stealth and/or action games {/u/falloutboywonder}
I just wanna recommend Axiom Verge for anyone who may be interested in a Sci-Fi Metroidvania with good gameplay, story, and a nice OST. I really had a good time with it myself, and it's only 10 bucks right now. {/u/Deamane}
I'd like to recommend Pyre. It's mainly a visual novel but with a neat little NBA jam-esque game in it. It has really nice characters and the music is relaxing. {/u/a-JoJo-Reference}
Insurgency and Hitman are definitely worth it, and I heard Foxhole is a fun strategy-mmo type game, worth a shot at this price point. Portal 2 is obviously a great game, with nice puzzles and a good storyline. Golf With Your Friends is a fun past-time if you have friends that also own it. {/u/Eastman987}
The Swapper for $2.84 is a steal. Such a great game. {/u/GeneticsGuy}
Uncommented Reccomendations
The Talos Principle is 80% off (30 upvotes) {/u/fastgr}
Barony is on sale {/u/jokerbane}
Road redemption is 50% off. {/u/ZeimusCS}
Dead Pixels $0.92 {/u/volt1up}
Smaller Compendiums
/u/quantum_foam_finger shows some of his favorites
The Long Dark is 75% off. Good discount for a favorite solo survival title. Story mode is a bit weak IMO, but the sandbox mode is well worth the price of entry if you don't mind a steep learning curve on the higher difficulty levels. Very atmospheric.
Revhead is 75% off. Open world racer with a nice long progression features build-'em-yourself race cars, tracks for various racing styles, and random street race challenges. A little buggy, but got me hooked anyway. No rubber-band AI here: if you're faster and avoid wipeouts/collisions you will win.
The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom is 75% off. A whimsical platformer with a time-traveling/clone mechanic. Very inexpensive at this discount.
Sid Meier's Pirates! is 75% off. The classic pirate game. Well, the modern-ish update of the classic pirate game.
Turmoil is 50% off. Oil drilling tycoon simulator. A little bit of long-range planning and strategy combined with furious arcade-style drilling and pipes. Seems like a very nice, engaged dev team on this one.
/u/SwordsAndRhetoric shows all-time lows from his wishlist
The Fidelio Incident: 90% off (£0.69) and a historic low by quite a margin. Walking simulator inspired by Beethoven's only opera.
Scanner Sombre: 85% off (£1.04). Another walking sim about cave exploration using a LIDAR scanner, and created by Introversion Software (of Prison Architect fame). For me, this is the sole remaining game in the "Introversion Complete Bundle" (which is Complete-Your-Collection-compliant), which brings it down to 93% off (£0.52).
Catlateral Damage: 75% off (£1.74). Destructive-cat simulator. Owning an energetic feline, I've witnessed more than enough of this in real life, but this sim now allows me to experience it in first-person! Has free VR DLC.
Cubicolor: 50% off (£0.79 - equal-lowest price). Minimalist puzzle game, one of my favourite genres. Looks ideal for playing while listening to podcasts.
ETA: some hidden gems which I've played and highly recommend:
Mu Cartographer: 80% off (£0.79) - I can't think of any other game to which this can be compared, but the description of "mystery puzzle sandbox" just about covers it. You're presented with several cryptic devices and interfaces which you have to work out how to use, but experimentation and observation are the names of the game. The story is based on real-life events - you're seeking the British explorer Percy Fawcett who, along with his son and one of his son's friends, disappeared in 1925, on an expedition to the jungles of Brazil. Where are he and his colleagues, and what happened to them? You'll have to play the game to find out!
True Fear: Forsaken Souls: 75% off (£1.49). Genuinely creepy and disturbing HOPA (hidden object puzzle adventure) which draws its inspiration from Hamlet, among other things. The sequel has been due Real Soon Now™ for a long time, but developer Goblinz says that it is finally to be released in a couple of months - This Time, For Sure!™ Has an epic, spoiler-heavy thread of plot speculation on the Steam forum here.
Spectraball: 85% off (£0.59) - challenging, fast-paced marble roller in the same vein as Marble Blast, with nice graphics and music. It's fast-paced alright - your marble rolls off the edge of things really fast
/u/K_U provides games he's enjoyed.
-
Tacoma: Walking simulator in space by the makers of Gone Home
-
Splasher: Challenging platformer developed by some of the former Rayman team; I've described it in other threads as Super Meat Boy without the masochism
-
Stories Untold: The type of game where the less you know the better going into it, so I'll just say it is a very interesting take on classic text-based adventure games
-
Orwell: Dystopian big brother simulator with a rich story and multiple paths for the story to take. You might find yourself playing through this one multiple times
-
Logic Puzzle Pack: I love Matthew Brown's puzzle games (Hexcells being the most well-known). Very chill, nice UI and sound, and challenging but not unfair
-
Glass Masquerade: Another very chill puzzler (in this case jigsaw puzzles). Every element of the game is well executed; visuals, sound, puzzle design, UI. The stained glass artwork in the game is stunning. EDIT: Glass Masquerade is now in the Fanatical Dollar Dash, so you can save a little getting it through that deal.
/u/SAJewers has some stuff
Copy Kitty is 25% off, and well worth the price if you're a fan of Action Platformers.
River City Ransom Underground is a fun Beat 'em Up at 75% off.
If if you're looking for something chill, Jalopy is a good candidate, provided you like driving games.
/u/Maiiau brings some reccomendations
Last Word - $1.99 (80% off): An RPG, but instead of actual fighting, you're arguing.
Unholy Heights - $2.79 (30% off): Manage an apartment complex for demons. Have said demons fight off adventurers who come to try and raid your apartment complex.
Capsule - $.99 (80% off): Try to survive in a strange capsule, traveling around to get oxygen, fuel, and figure out what's going on. Kind of spooky. The devs suggest being careful if you're claustrophobic, misophonic, or have issues with asphyxiation/darkness.
Waking Mars - $1.99 (80% off): A sort of puzzley adventure game where you travel around inside of Mars and interact with weird alien wildlife. The wildlife all interacts with each other, too, like it's a real ecosystem.
We Know the Devil - $1.99 (75% off): A surreal visual novel about girls going to summer camp. Very short.
$1 and under gems from /u/crabbit
If you like idle clicker games like Realm Grinder: Plantera, $0.59
If you like casual dating sims with multiple endings like Hot Date: Flix & Chill, $0.49
If you like fast-paced arcadey platforming like Downwell: Super House of Dead Ninjas, $0.69
If you like fast-paced, repeatable-level platformers like Super Meat Boy: 10 Second Ninja, $0.49
If you like rhythm-based platformers like Electronic Super Joy & BIT.TRIP.RUNNER: 140, $0.99
If you like irreverently funny, weird RPGs like Earthbound: Cthulhu Saves the World, $0.98 and Dark Scavenger, $0.99
If you like examine-the-thing and solve-the-thing puzzlers like The Room: Access Denied, $0.89
If you like clicky ARPGs like Diablo: Divine Divinity, $0.59
If you like first-person puzzlers like Portal: Quantum Conundrum, $0.99 and Qbeh-1: The Atlas Cube, $0.99
If you like art pieces that inexplicably have puzzles in them like Samorost: Morphopolis, $0.79
If you like spacefaring adventure that blows your mind like the reveal trailer for No Man's Sky: Ring Runner: Flight of the Sages, $0.99
If you like coop Metroidvanias like Salt & Sanctuary: Outland, $0.99
Donham lists 2 historic lows
Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition -80%, first time it's that low on Steam.
Lethis - Path of Progress -75%, historical low.
/u/JaimieL0L is hyped!
Puyo Puyo Tetris is fun, has a wierd story mode, but overall is pretty cool and fairly polished. I can’t speak for online multiplayer, as I have it on switch, and only played online once, where a Japanese man kicked my ass, but I don’t think it has any issues .It’s currently £12 ish, which is alright.
However, for those £12~ you could get Tricky Towers. What is Tricky Towers, you ask? Well it’s fucking WIZARD TETRIS, and has all sorts of wacky game modes. I have experience in friendly online matches, which seemed to be alright connectivity wise. I must warn you it’s not actual Tetris however, but more of a physics game using tetris pieces.
But wait there’s more! The game usually is £12, but it’s also on sale, for 50% off! That means you can get 2 copies, and generously give one to a friend so you don’t have to get smashed online by strangers!
Got no friends? No problem! Use that £6 to buy Tetris Ultimate or maybe even another type of game altogether.
Save up that £6 you worked really hard for and put it together with 83p you found in your back pocket and get GOROGOA! A short, gorgeous puzzle game with a unique play style. You have 1-4 panels that you can click through to discover the pieces to the puzzle, and then you usually move the panels themselves to solve it. At £6 it’s still maybe a bit pricey, but I’d still highly recommend it if you think it looks interesting.
Maybe you don’t even want a puzzle game? Well, for just £1~ more than Gorogoa, you can get yourself WHAT REMAINS OF EDITH FINCH, a walking simulator with actually gameplay elements! You’ll laugh! You’ll cry! You’ll cry... more. This maybe couldn’t be classed as a game, but more of an interactive story. You walk around a strange old house as Edith Finch, the last of the Finches, discovering the stories of all of her relatives, and finding out more about the place she grew up in. It’s an amazing, if a little sombre game. The FOV is locked at like 70 and might make you nauseous at first, and the walking is a bit slow, but trust me, once you get into it you barely notice. The story is so compelling, and despite it being a 2 hour long game, for almost £8 (and that’s on sale) it is by far my most recommended game of this bunch, and it probably beats a few other games I love that are on sale, too.
Shmups listed from /u/m_meirin
Mushihimesama, Deathsmiles and Dodonpachi Resurrection. Made by the legendary developer CAVE these games may be some of the best the genre has to offer. They have plenty of modes with different degrees of difficulty so that even new players can enjoy them without getting destroyed on the first stage. It doesnt hurt that all of them feature a killer OST.
Ikaruga. An absolute classic with a great new gameplay approach to the genre. Match your polarity to the oncoming bullets to absorb them and change to the opposite one of your enemies to inflict more damage. This one is a must for anyone interested in the shooter genre.
Blue Revolver. Probably a lesser known one but just as great nonetheless. With fantastic visuals and a really smooth gameplay experience this game is absolutely delightful. Keep in mind that the devs have also announced that the game will eventually get a free pretty big update (though the relesae date is still TBA)
Crimzon Clover. If the ones above were a bit too expensive and you are just curious about the genre then consider this one. It's a fantastic entry to newcomers so don't miss out.
Overall I know this genre might seem intimidating for some, but don't be. Reaching that 1cc (one credit clear) can be extremely addicting. Think of them as some sort of roguelike where each time you play you manage to get a little bit further, but unlike that genre you wont be needing to worry about getting good rng since here it all comes down to your own skills. So check them out, you might (and probably will) be surprised how much fun they actually are.
/u/bakerjin provides more short games
Call of Juarez: Gunslinger - brief shooter that has pretty fun arcade style gameplay but really pulled me in with its fun story and unreliable narrator
Galak-Z - traces of old Saturday morning robot cartoons and surprisingly strategic twin-stick style gameplay (well not really twin stick but hard to explain)
Inside - Pretty well known at this point but I loved the atmosphere and animation. Gameplay was alright though sometimes a bit frustrating
Tacoma - Enjoyable walking simulator with an interesting story
The Swapper - 2D puzzle platformer with some really good brain teasers and interesting premise.
The Fall - 2D adventure platformer with great atmosphere and solid puzzles. I enjoyed the story too which often takes a backseat in these types of games (I haven't played the sequel but I'm buying it during this sale!)
What remains of Edith Finch - Another walking simulator told through a series of short story vignettes. Some work better than others but still I enjoyed it overall.
Gunpoint - Great strategic 2D platformer that really forces you to make use of your surroundings
Deadbolt - Similar 2D platformer that is more action focused but you still have to be observant of your surroundings or you'll be killed fast. Sort of a mix between Hotline Miami and Gunpoint... but focusing mostly on melee and stealth.
Hatoful Boyfriend - Seems silly yet generic at the same time at first, but if you can stomach the shallow first few stories, the last "chapter" (which is much longer than the previous chapters combined) really pulled me in with its mystery and ridiculousness
Hacknet - Let's hack!
A Abjured List of games from /u/MJuniorDC9 for shoestring hardware
Action / FPS / TPS
THIEF - Deadly Shadows - Thief 3 is the best entry on the franchise and while it's outdated, mods got our backs on it. With a 89% discount, if you don't have it yet it's a steal for the amount of time you can take out of it. If you already finished the story, there's a bunch of mission packs out of there and a very dedicated community.
Blue Estate - co-op focused on-rails shooter, this game has a lot of comedy worth of /r/ComedyCemetery but still a lot of fun to play with a friend. It doesn't overstay it's welcome, so if you're playing alone you will have a decent time with the story mode and its challenges and with 75% off is a good pickup.
Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 - great shooter even as it start to show its date nowadays. If you enjoyed the likes of CoD2, or better, a campaign in BF1942, this is for you.
Way of the Samurai 4 - Way of the Samurai 4 is a game that every ending should take you 2 to 4 hours to complete, with more than 10 endings. It's placed on 19th century Japan and it's a pretty nice package - good gameplay, fun to play and has a couple of rewards to those who wants to unlock everything and try out everything possible in the game. I had some laughs and frustrations with it and with it's lowest price ever on Steam is a good deal.
Strategy / Tycoon
Ghost Master - Works fines on modern systems, at least for me and have a idea that still isn't explored as it should in the gaming marked. You take control of ghosts and your objective is to spook out the hell of your targets. Simple, fun, 85% off, less than a dollar. Enough said.
Fallout 2 - I do believe that BIS hit every nail in Fallout 2 making it the definitive isometric Fallout to play. You can fell that your choices, stats and overall behaviour have some weight in the game and it feels genuinely good to play especially after the wave of games trying to take us back to the isometric titles era.
Pizza Connection 2 - Pizza Connection did the pizza tycoon and restaurant tycoon thing right. Competition is fierce, the pizza creator is solid and it doesn't have half bugs that PC3 has. I must however advise you that the game is usually way cheaper, and you can find traders willing to exchange gems for it as it has been bundled a lot of times in low value bundles. Plus, if you have a big backlog, might wait until GOG edition gets on sale again as it's the easier way to set up this game on Win 10 machines.
SimCity 4 Deluxe - No matter if Cities Skylines took on SimCity legacy, SimCity 4 still is a masterpiece in city building and the complete edition with 75% off is a nice deal. Hook yourself up with the SC4Launcher tool and most technical problems are gone. Remember to save periodically though - with SC4 saving is never enough.
Sid Meier's Civilization IV - Complete - Civilization IV is hard, not a good introduction for the series as it's now but for itself it's a good game. I played it months ago and the corporation mechanic alongside the more open trading system makes it a worth challenge and worth game for any TBS, just don't go on CIV or CIVI with the same mindset you left CIV4 on - and please don't pick the basic version, isn't even on sale.
Army Men RTS - Army Men was a serie that I never understood. I initially played Sarge's Heroes and it was a mess, then I played Army Men Toys in Space and it was even worst. Then I played RTS, it was well done enough and I want to go back to it someday. It does RTS right and while it doesn't innovate nor created a new trend in the genre, it still a good game even taking off the nostalgia glasses.
Racing
SCREAMER 2 - I have to admit that this one is here more for the nostalgia sake but after purchasing it some weeks ago it also remembered me a lot of why I loved racing games back in N64 / PSX / SST. The AI is a bitch, graphics have its charms and with a couple of config files editing it will be running fine (it runs using DOSBox), it's perfectly playable with a KB and I had some fun replaying it weeks ago.
Crashday Redline Edition - good graphics, great gameplay. Crashday is a Burnout-like game focused more on the derby side of things than racing but still has a race mode so it has a bit of something for everyone. More importantly, it's track editor (map editor) is great and while the community isn't big, it's a blast to spend a hour or two building a new track so you can try it out.
nail'd - kinda rally-ish style game that holds up greatly today. Lots of fun for $2.49 and more importantly it does the speed sensation of risk and reward right.
Adventure / Puzzle
Payroll - you go to your work, you do what you have to. If there's more in your building than the eyes can see, that's up to you. The 96 ~ 01 design of this game nails it perfectly.
Gunpoint - great little game where you're a spy and must find your way throught a very specific case. With a bit of comedy here and there, smooth gameplay and enjoyable mechanics, it's hard to not recommend Gunpoint to everyone.
Emily is Away Too - following up on the free game Emily is Away we have its sequel that is nicely priced in this sale. It basically drops the previous story and upgrade every system within the game. Your choices have impact in the story, it seems more genuine, and the two main characters are really well-written.

/u/caninehere praises West of Loathing
Everybody should buy West of Loathing.
It's made by the creators of Kingdom of Loathing, which is one of the funniest games ever made. West of Loathing takes their signature brand of humor and turns it into an adventure-RPG.
The writing in the game is seriously funny. I LOVE funny games, but sadly, a lot of video game writers are hacks and whenever they try to be funny it falls flat and ends up making the game worse rather than better. Unlike the vast majority of video games, West of Loathing is actually genuinely hilarious.
I had a smile on my face literally the entire time I played this game. I rarely ever buy games on launch day, but for me this was a must - and if they make more games like this I will absolutely buy them, too. For those who are counting, the game is maybe 8-10 hours long for a playthrough - but in typical Loathing fashion it has a multitude of sidequests, so there's 20+ hours of content in the game if you exhaust everything.

(Switch) Game crashes frequently when using Nail Arts
Hi all (minor boss spoiler ahead),
I'm aware that there was a recent bug found where the game crashes on switch when Cyclone slashing into spikes. However I have had several game crashes when using nail arts when spikes were not involved. The game has crashed twice in the Coliseum when hitting an enemy with great slash, and once when using Cyclone Slash on Gray Prince Zote (the dream version.) All errors have occurred within the last few hours of play, and did not happen prior to this point, despite me using nail arts often. It seems to be random when the error occurs, and the switch won't give me any other information except that an error has occurred. Errors have occurred with and without the Nailmaster charm. It's getting quite frustrating, as I have to accept that using nail arts might set me back several minutes from a crash.
Has anyone else encountered similar errors? Any potential Solutions or ideas to reliably replicate this error for reporting?
( sorry for weird capitalization, using voice to text from my phone.)

On the Hunt Pt.2
(Read the previous part here)
“Go get him. Oh, and if anything happens to Ivy, I’ll kill you myself. Byeeee.” Victor’s voice came over the comms.
“I….wait, what?” I tried, only to be cut off by the noise of sublights engines engaging, and the two ships disappeared into the upper atmosphere.
“I hate him.” I muttered to myself.
“Me too!” Mark interjected cheerfully.
Before me, the front stabilizers of my Sparrow flattened the rows upon rows of corn in front of us.
We were on the trail of a crater. The only signs of it were a slight depression in the wide plain of crops all around us. And we must’ve been getting close, because the corn around us now seemed to be leaning away, as though some great force had collided with the ground somewhere nearby.
Suddenly, the crater we were looking for appeared in front of us.
“Well….” Ivy said quietly.
Mark gave a low whistle as he looked out on the hole in the Earth.
The crater was about 30 yards across, and circular. Towards the center, the land buckled and dropped off as it approached the center of the crater.
Some remnant shards of something lay strewn around the hole.
I slipped over edge and started into the crater, my foot narrowly missing a burning object partially covered by the dirt that surrounded it.
I picked it up, patted it against my leg to extinguish the flames, and took at it.
“I think it’s plasteel.” I said after a moment, “we’re on the right track.”
More of Mick’s Armor Plating was scattered about the dent in the Earth.
“This is good. It means he’s on foot.” I observed.
“Very good. It means we have the advantage.” Ivy pointed out.
“So which way did he go?” Mark asked, ecstatic to be part of the conversation.
“Good question….”
“And why would he jump out of his ship mid flight?” Mark positied, as Ivy walked around the edge of the crater, looking for his trail.
I stood in the center, my fingers tapping a beat on my visor.
Why? It didn’t make any sense. Even by a Titan’s standards, this was stupid, and seemed to go against all the other evidence of Mick’s tactical genius.
Unless…..
“Drew!”
I was snapped out of my thoughts by Ivy’s shout.
She stood, one arm extended, index finger pointing towards the ground.
Leading away from her, was Mick’s trail, disappearing into the thick nest of corn.
“Great! Let’s get the Sparrows and we’ll nail this sucker!”
Ivy’s face stayed low, drawn long.
“Look.”
At that moment I realized. Mick’s trail lead back towards the crash site. My stomach dropped. We’d been played by a master of the art.
Well played.
“Back to the Crash Site. Now!”
We hopped aboard our Sparrows and tore back through the corn, following our original path.
“Why’s it such a big deal if Mick makes it back to the Ship?” Mark asked naively.
“Weapons, Ammo, a Sparrow. Take your pick.”
He fell silent.
We raced on, comms silent, until we returned to the crash site.
Mick had stripped the ship bare. He’d taken the Sparrow and run into the corn.
“Shit.” I muttered.
//Baited and switched by a master. It seems the team’ve got a lot of work before them. Next week, we’ll return to the story of the Fall Guys(sorry)//

Feeling emptiness from personal achievements.
Hi. I've been lurking around here since a long time ago but today I decided to post because I just realized how I feel. It has been a long day and I'm a mixture of sadness, anger, emptiness and loneliness.
I had been in doubt about my mother being a narc for a few years, then it exploded in my face after I had my daughter last year. She used to stole my achievements to tell the world how she sacrificed for her children to be “someone” in this life, but after my baby was born and I decided to keep studying (after she told me several times that I wasn't going to be able to and calling me “absent mother” for going to class while my partner was taking care of the baby) everything is facebooked and she brags about it to everyone by telling this disgusting meritocracy fairy tale where I'm the struggling mom that battles the world with a pencil because she adopted me, raised me and gave me the inspiration and support to keep going no matter what.
What a fucking lie.
If there is something my mother did is to pressure me to be perfect and that means shaming and making me feel worthless if I don't reach her standards. “Her daughter” is a beautiful girl, so how could I allowed myself to look like this? I'm fat, I'm under-dressed all the time, I bite my nails, my hair has split ends and I got melasma and stretch marks after having my daughter 1 year ago. Her daughter is polite, so how can I be so vulgar sometimes? I have such a bad taste in humor and arts, such a creepy and nerdish view of life and no one (she) can understand some of my references when I'm talking (with somebody else and she can't intervene). Her daughter is intelligent, so what about this low grade (she calls anything below 85/100 a low grade)? Somebody's grown child got a job at a good place and is earning a good salary, so what about you? I'm studying to be a teacher and I deeply love it. She was an elementary teacher and moved to directive for the money, I'm studying to teach in secondary school and doing some extra courses to get the chance to teach in university (that is my goal). I will never make “good money” so she despises my choice of job.
As a child I used to enjoy being praised but as I grew up and I struggled more and had doubts about “my goals” (her goals) the pressure destroyed me. I started having panic attacks and just couldn't stay in the room when I knew I had the risk of doing something wrong. I over-analyzed everything, grew anxious and depressed. In 7 years I tried and dropped a few undergraduate degrees, had a year I was unable to leave my (own) home and only the idea of the burden for my SO having to take care of my remains stopped me from taking my own life. I eventually had the courage to get out and start my training as a teacher and loved it. Since then I'm fighting with paralysis analysis and my black-or-white mentality. Got pregnant and had a baby girl a year ago so I had to slow down the pace, got stuck with obligatory general class subjects so for this year I can't do anything until I finish 3 courses.
My family, I mean my real, own family that I created with my SO gave me the strenght to try new things. And I wanted to expose myself to my worst fear, the fear of failing so I started a second career as a Chemistry Engineer while finishing those damn assignments. I enrolled in only 2 courses this quarter thinking that if I passed only one I would be so happy.
Today I passed my second test for Mathematical Analysis I, so it means that I'm ready for finals. This is the first time in my life I didn't tell anything about it to my parents. I'm keeping my mom in an information diet and sadly my e-stepdad has the same treatment since he always gives her drops of data “without noticing”.
I wish there was a happy ending to this story but I just had a panic attack and I'm still sobbing because I don't have the capacity of feeling joy about what I did. It feels to me like having a good grade was what I was supposed to do anyways and even if I'm surrounded by loving people who told me they are proud of me, I still feel like I don't deserve it. I feel guilty about being unable to feel good with them. I should be feeling relieved, not broken.
Sometimes I feel like I have her speechs ingrained in my head to the point that I torn myself to pieces with criticism and today I realized that, paradoxically, that's one of the things that keeps me going: in my head there's still a little hateful gremlin with my mother's sweetest, cruelest voice telling me that failure is not an option. And also there's a special place for a troll with my late n-dad's voice (her ex-husband) telling me that as a woman it's enough for me to be a homemaker and breed a few babies, but that's another story.
After my father died and my daughter was born I was able to see the full picture. Before all I knew was that I had an helicopter mother and a traditional rugged and detached father. Now that I can see through it it eats me inside. Suddenly I saw my own FLEAS and since then I catched myself gaslighting my SO of 10 years (I'm now aware of it) and using “sarcasm” as defense when I feel threatened or even just for laughs and hurting people in consequence. After I realized this for the first time I tried therapy. She insisted that I have to let go the past and live in the present, as if it was that simple. She also suggested to take distance and I did. Can't afford it anymore, and it didn't helped me to stop the random poking from intrusive thoughts in my head.
Is this really something I want, or is this something I'm programmed to do since I'm not allowed to fail at anything? Is this really my choice, inspired by wanting to follow my taste of natural sciences or is this another way to prove I'm worthy of love? And if it is my choice, how can I feel so empty about it? Will I ever feel satisfied with anything?
I have a strong painful urge of praise, but not anyone's praise: their praise that they will never give me since daddy is dead and even if he was alive he didn't understand why I wanted to study and mommy thinks that this is not an achievement because “people less intelligent can reach the same point” and I'm “wasting my time if doing this just for teaching”. I feel ungrateful for not being happy for my SO's congratulations or being greeted by a happy baby after I came home.
My eyes hurt and I feel like crap. My SO is sleeping and I don't know how to talk with him about this. I'm at loss of what to do. And I feel totally stupid because all this was triggered by passing an exam.
I apologize in advance if anything here is poorly written, English isn't my mother language (I'm self taught, and happy to receive feedback to improve).

Is something wrong with my personality?
I turned 19 at the beginning of this month, so I'm very young. I see many girls my age who love going out, being social, drinking, partying, just being out and about with friends in general. I find that I don't really enjoy any of that. I have tried going to the hookah bar before, didn't really care for it. I have drank a few times, and also didn't really care for it. Parties are just too loud and not really my thing honestly, maybe on occasion. I actually love staying in my house, surfing the internet, listening to music, and hanging out with my mom when I do go out. I'm an only child, no sisters or brothers. I stopped attending high school, and spent my junior and senior year doing online classes due to an unfortunate situation. I graduated early, and finished fairly quickly. I so far have completed one semester of college, and I'm returning this August to take 2 more classes, twice a week. I would've went more, but I am expecting a baby due in October. Being pregnant has left me even MORE exhausted, and I find that barely going to one store and back leaves me so fatigued. It's really hot where I am at as well, and I just enjoy being inside where it's cool. I do enjoy going swimming at the pool in my apartment complex, but that's about it. But I found that even before I was pregnant, I never really enjoyed getting out much. I like journaling, watching tv shows, the pool, I do enjoy getting my nails and toes done, baking, I like arts and crafts type of things, but once again most of that involves being in the house. I used to love shopping, but I don't really like going to too many stores anymore. As I've gotten older, I kinda just like getting exactly what I need and getting out. I don't have any "friends" at all really. Most moved, or I lost contact with them. I do interact with people at my college, but I don't really have a friend to go places with or really talk to. I actually go all day long without any text messages from *anyone*, besides family. Sometimes I do wish I had a girlfriend to talk to daily, or just someone my age to hangout with, but it doesn't really bother me too much that I don't. Especially since I have a child on the way, I know that'll keep me plenty busy. I actually picked community college for my associates degree because I liked the laid-back, quiet, atmosphere. I don't like being around a lot of people, and honestly just get annoyed sometimes. Sometimes I wonder if maybe I am missing out. I know you're only young once, but I do sometimes wonder if "something is wrong with me". I honestly could live in my house other than maybe going out a few times for grocery shopping, or out to eat. I don't know if it has maybe more to do with the fact it's worse because I am pregnant now, but I realized I didn't even care if I did anything for the fourth of July or not. Usually I would go to the carnival a few days before, but I can't do that now that it's not safe during pregnancy. But, I have no interest in fireworks, or anything else for the matter actually. I'd rather just stay inside. I don't feel depressed. I mean I have been having mixed emotions in regards to having a baby right now, but I am excited. This started before I was pregnant too, so it's nothing really new. I guess I wonder if something is wrong with my personality or I'm a boring person for my age.

Bullshit Link Comment
You are right, many members of the Black Scripture make mention of True Dragon Lords and view them as a threat should they appear as evident in the WN scene at the Empire ball, to WN Clementine, to even the LN Clementine.However, we see in Volume 7:>"Pick whichever side of the coin you like. Oh yes, I’ve mentioned this before,but why not ask the other Dragon Lords for help?">"The answer is still the same; it’s very difficult. After all, they’re all peoplewho didn’t fight in the war with the Eight Greed Kings. For instance, I feel theHeavenly Dragon Lord — who only knows how to fly around in the sky — orthe Deep Darkness Dragon Lord — who hides in that massive undergroundcave doing who knows what — won’t possibly help us.">"Really now. Aren’t there others like the Brightness Dragon Lord, DragonLords who had children with humanity? Try talking to them; who knows,things might turn out well, you know?"[Volume 7]Total war with the True Dragon Lords is inconceivable because they aren't even united and the ones PDL mentions in particular didn't even participate in the war against the genociders of their race, the Eight Greed Kings. And we know these guys are True Dragon Lords from the movie pamphlet.I believe this is another secret the Cardinals keep from everyone else, even the Black scripture. Just like the knowledge of Players, they also don't seem to not clarify the remaining True Dragon Lords are no longer united, for some reaosnwe do not know. What we do know is that at least in the WN, they had some kind of pact involving True Dragon Lords, and in the LN we seem to have some kind of discourse with Dragon Lords, despite their country being at odds with Agrande.I understand the idea of similar strength means you can take hits from that person. In games that is normal, but the New World has changed things. Even if the levels are simliar, we clearly see PDL's Wild Magic was devastating to a Level 100 being and she would have died if she was not undead since she didnt need her organs to function.Undead have the advantage of they can ignore their pain and function, as Ainz stated before he could ignore pain unlike if he was alive.>The lethal area of the superheated pulse was measured in kilometers, andthere was no trace of movement within it.>Since she had been caught in the heat flare of the explosion, her throat hadbeen burned away and she could not speak. No, it was not just her throat. Herentire body had been scorched, and her previous beauty was nowhere to beseen. She had lost all her hair and she looked like charcoal briquette. Beyondthe burns caused by the tremendous heat, the shockwave had lacerated herbody.>She should have been immune to fire, so why had she taken fire damage?How had her defenses been breached?[Maruyama's Blog]>Ainz could not react in time, and his body was wracked with pain. It felt as though his bones were crumbling. In the instant in which Ainz had failed to pay attention, Shalltear had appeared in front of him. Her cruel weapon pierced through Ainz’s chest and protruded out his back.>"Guwaaaargh!">The weapon which had struck him also did bludgeoning damage, and the massive drop in health which resulted drew a cry of agony from Ainz. Any pain which the undead Ainz felt would cut out once its intensity exceeded a certain threshold, much like his emotions did. This was why even Suzuki Satoru, who lacked combat experience, could endure this pain and calmly deal with it.>That said, this was no ordinary pain.>Ainz’s —no, Suzuki Satoru’s —mind was assaulted by the fact that his life was ebbing away. His vision grew dim and he felt himself losing consciousness, as though he had lost a great deal of blood.>However, Ainz’s will was stronger than that weak mind. This was because the person fighting here was not Suzuki Satoru, but the Supreme Ruler of the Great Underground Tomb of Nazarick, Ainz Ooal Gown.[-Volume 3]Being confirmed as Wild Magic in Volume 9 as well as bypassing even fire resistance shows this is very big problem that Levels alone can address.======Yes, Volume 13 shows us how a YGGDRASIL Level 100 vs Level 50s with good gear and buffed by a Level 100 struggled and had no chance of victory.And we do see Shalltear strike the Black Scripture Captain and not instantly kill him.However, the problem with comparing levels using YGGDRASIL standards is difficult because New World only things don't adhere to that common sense.So Captain, being a New Worlder able to use a spear should have Martial Arts, and we see Martial Arts can accomplish impressive feats despite an overwhelming difference in Level.>Ainz glanced to the shoulder from where the impact had come, but there wasonly a slight dent in the armor. Although the armor had no special magicalproperties, it was still the product of a level one hundred magic caster’s spells.The armor’s hardness increased with its creator’s level, so the fact that therewas a dent in the armor was testament to the destructive power of Clementine’sstrikes.[Volume 2]>Right now, if someone had converted their ability into data and comparedthem, he would undoubtedly be cheering for Brain.>”...Eh?”Before her eyes, the nail of her left pinky finger had been shortened. It was atiny flaw less than a centimeter in length.Shalltear considered the current situation. The place which had been cut wasthe same place which had been used to repel all the strikes.Come to think of it, those four strikes had been executed in two pairs, oneabove and one below. They had intersected on the spot where Shalltear hadintercepted the attacks.>”...Were you aiming for this?”[Volume 6]Did the Marital Arts turn New Worlders into Player killers? No, Brain and Clementine are only around Adamantie to Hero ranked people. However, it's stated by Ainz and even Maruyama as the narrator that it's a big deal people at such a low level achieved anything at all.So a far higher level being like a Godkin with Martial Arts can potentially close the gap. Maruyama states on his blog:Q:>Perhaps the highest level in the NW is predicted to be around Lv. 70-80suppose it will end with [as a] foil/gag. Besides if they do not know Ainzis a Player it’s definite. ..That Dragon-san from before being surprisedSebas is a transformed dragon...[that’d be] amusing.A:>No, at Lv. 80 there are various ways to close the gap! If it has somethingthat YGGDRASIL did not have, they would even be able to reach for thestars![Blog]I am actually incilned to think Godkin are higher level than even Shalltear's estimate of just higher than Solution. For one, Shalltear actually thinks he might be strong and like you said he didn't go splat, yet we see Death Knights gib Quagoa or humie knights no problem and there's like a 20 level difference there.My arguement is that such high level beings like Godkin are harder to measure because Martial Arts can close the gap and accomplish feats that normally a lower level person could not.For example if some stronger version of Invulnerable Fortress exists, it could work on even Level 100 Players or YGGDRASIL beings.Based off what we do know about Godkin, we can only really establish that they are higher than Solution and below Players. That's like a 58-99 window though.I use the lower estimate because people argue so much about how strong they really are. It's Martial Arts that present a problem because we dont' know if Captain used one to survive or buff himself. All we know was he showed the fortitude to take an unarmed hit from Shalltear.I've seen people think his shitty spear is actually Longinus though to he just used Martial Arts to he's like Level 90+.I don't know which is true, but I lean toward Martial Arts because Shalltear used Solution and not Sebas as a reference point suggesting he is lower rather than higher. Additonally, the fear the Theocracy has for True Dragon Lords, both the Cardinals to the WN Black Scripture members who suggest if something is stronger than a Godkin that True Dragon Lords come to mind is a possible indicator there is a discrepancy between Godkin and True Dragon Lord.Like my previous posts, True Dragon Lord appears to be a very large bracket of anywhere from 65-90+ from what we do know, which is little. Nevertheless, I accept that Captain might be higher level than even the lower bound.The reason to approximate him low is to avoid issues of "He's not that strong" etc etc. Anywhere from 60s to 70s is fine with me, but I don't think any higher than 80s based off how it appears he can't take True Dragon Lords.==================Yeah, I don't know how Awakening works for sure.It could be you just get levels instantly.Could be you just get a higher level cap.Or you unlock classes at birth from your Player ancestor.I have seen the reincarnation Awakening theory to explain why Rape King can't rape a baby as strong as himself. However, the problem I have with that is1.) Why would the Theocracy push Captain to get to making babies if they know their is a fixed limit.Some people who believe in the reincarnatinon theory is that Theocracy only has 3 Awakened, so they get to have 2 more.Our sample size of Awakened beings is too small though.It could be reincarnation, or it could be an ultra rare recessive trait that has higher odds when sides have Player blood on both sides.Or it could have a flat chance of appearing in all people descended like Talents.I have seen people even make a math analysis using Albinoism as part of the theory.That is, Awakening is like Level Albinoism. You don't exhibit your Growth Potential or Level cap you should from either parent. We don't what exactly determines level caps, but genetics plays a role. However, people have argued the rarity of Awakening is related.So in this example, people use Gondo. He's someone who had a very strong father at least from little we do know, due to his Rune Smith prestige. Yet he appears capped at Level 11.How'd that happen?Then people use Fluder as well.So there is a believed Normal distribution that gives you a + or - chance of determining level cap at birth.Fluder hit the lottery, meanwhile Gondo got unlucky. Humans in general seem to have a mean level of only like Copper or Iron, due to how even elites in a military are considered Gold or Silver ranked and the sheer rarity of Platinum ranked humans and above.What this has to do with Awakening is that even if you leave it up to random chance, your race in general is only able to go so high.One explanation why Godkin exists is that it artitically raises the level cap.However, in the WN Clementine explains this does happen even to non Awakened Player descendants. And Krusch's situation supports this where those with Awakened Elder Blood Lizard man are a bit stronger than their non Awakend peers, but not substantially so.There are theories about blood dilution, but due to how Awakened Elder blood is more common than regular Albinoism, I am unsure if that is sufficient explanation.So the Awakening Albinoism theory is for those weirdoes out there who get fucked over liike Gondo and get lower than they should level caps actually exhibit something beyond just random level cap distribution.Rather, it's a case of you failed to inherit your parent's level cap factor at all. You didn't get a lower level cap, but got absolutely nothing from one parent.So if Gondo's mother was some regular lady, Level 11 is pretty good odds just from a normal level cap perspective.So where Godkin come in is, in these situations, what if both parents fail to confer a Level cap?These are the people who get shafted by life and are stuck at Level 1 or so the theory goes.However, for normal New Worlder's this si a death sentence. What if for Player descendants, by not exhibiting their New World Parent's caps, that is displaying Growth potentials based off normal Mendelian genetics, they display something else?I'll keep it brief, but it's like how Red Hair exists in humans, you lack a certain pigment, but your body substitutes something else instead. In this case, somewhere in a Player Descendants body is the genetic code for their Player Ancestor and by being an "Level Cap Albino" they can actually manifest this power since they are missing something in their body.Normally New Worlder's cannot compensate as they have no Player Ancestors, but not so for Godkin.The reason this theory came about is Krushc's Albinoism. People thought it weird that Awakened Elder Blood caused Albinoism.So some argue that the Dragon Lord ancestor was some outcast Albino.Others though, came up with this level cap Albinoism theory. Call it whatever you wish. The idea is that extremely recessive traits are linked to Awakening. Hence Albinoiism.For example, Zesshi is portrayed to be extremely pale. Likewise Black Scripture Captain is portrayed having red eyes.But are both traits of their ancestor's or a sign of something else?That is, Albinoism is also the complete lack of skin pigment and iris pigment. So this manifestation of Player traits Clementine mentions comes from you getting some sealed away in your genetics since your own body didn't inherit from the New World side.Well presuming Captain's eyes are red from the lack of pigmentation and not dumb red anime eyes and like wise for Zesshi.Since our sample is so small, of course it is difficult to accurately predict.But of the two Player descendants that have Awakened we know of, and a New Worlder who has Awakened Elder Blood it's suspect they all have some traits of albinoism. So it's not only a visual metaphor, but a sign it's rare genetic disorder of some sort and the odds to spread it increase if you mate betwen those who also have Player Blood.Hence why Rape King's rape worked on Zesshi's mom, he has Awakened Blood, so he's a pure recessive person just like the mom for whatever Player blood gene there is.Likewise, people like Clementine are carriers.So if we use Mendelian notaiton:A=Dominant New Worlder Blooda=Player bloodAA=pure New World bloodAa=Player blood carrier, but they only get a slight buff to themselves; Clementine and non Awakened Six Great God descendantsaa=Awakened Player Descendant.Rape King's rape isn't working out because he needs to rape aAa or aa person of Player descent.Most New Worlder's he can breed with have AA.=======================It should be noted that using regular sciene in a world with magic is quite prone to disappointment. In additon, there is too little to say about if it's even just one gene or several.So it could be you need to Awaken by having:aabbccddeeall at once. Players are all recessive for all. Hence why Awakening doesn't just disappear over time by being blood dilution.By inbreeding Player descenants you have higher odds since they can all have at least heterozygous traits even if not for all of them.heterozygous: Aa or Bb or Cc or Dd or Ee etc.I think this theory is highly likely to be FALSE. But I do like how it explains why Albino's appear to have Awakened Elder Blood while Zesshi and Black SCripture Captain have some traits of albinoism.In summation, super recessive and rare traits are linked to Awakening in Player Descendants as something in them prevents the formation of New World parts of their level caps, and instead just like with the Red Hair lack of melanin in our world, something else in teh body uses those dormant Player genes instead to fill in the gap. Consequently leading to also increasing their level by an absurd degree.==================In relation to this is the whoel Zesshi is a child of near impossible odds and why she is called the Overlord of the New World.This theory ignores the whole gene thing. Instead it's like a flat percentage rate of Awakening if you have a Player ancestor.The odds improve if you have matings with Player descendatns hence the Theocracies harems and match making practices.Zesshi, having an Awakened mother has even higher chances of having been Awakened.Using her father, he has something in his bloodline that Awakens as well. We shall call it High Elf for now. If High Elf is just an Awakened Elf Player descendant is ignored for now.So both of Zesshi's parents are Awakened, one High Elf father and one Godkin mother.The reason Zesshi is the Overlord of the New World is because she Awakened as a Godkin AND a High Elf. Mixed in here is also getting the World's strongest Talent. Well continent's strongest.So the nigh impossible odds is that she won the lottery twice or thrice. So the reason the Maruyama struggles to label her as a Godkin in his author notes and how the Theocracy Cardinals say there is only two Godkin that can stand againsst the Death Knight Soul Eater army is not just because they fear to mobilize Zesshi.The reason another Awakened Godkin has NEVER beaten her is because she has beaten all odds and Awakened two separate powerful bloodlines and an extremely powerful Talent.>This time, there was a new book-original character. So it seems another oneappears, thus the New World’s Overlord appears.When she is present, there are 5 ’equipments of the pillars’ [ZN: hashira nosoubi ], when she is not, there are only 4 ’equipments of the pillars’.Sooner or later you will understand how strong she is. Because she has thestrongest of the top-ten Talents on the continent (identical talents can be shared/not counted twice).However, I wonder if it was good to say there are only 3 god-kins?Or maybe it is better to think there is 2 people?It is difficult to say.[Volume 4 Author Thoughts]>She was a cross-blooded child born of nigh-impossible odds, the Black Scripture’sExtra Seat, known as "Certain Death." She was a guardian, responsiblefor defending the sanctum sanctorum of the Slaine Theocracy, the place wherethe relics of five gods were kept....>As he heard her mutter to herself, he wondered, Who would win, if they fought?He had exchanged blows with both the girl and the Vampire, and he felt thatthe Vampire was superior. However, that Vampire would not be able to defeat"Certain Death."That was because of the difference in their panoplies.The Vampire looked to be completely unequipped, which was a weakness inpowerful monsters. They placed great pride in their strength, which meantthat they did not make use of potent magic items.In contrast, she was kitted out in the relics of the Six Gods, so he could concludethat she was more powerful.However, what if both sides were outfitted in items of similar power?Impossible.He immediately rejected the question which arose in his mind. After all, it wasimpossible to find gear which rivalled her panoply, which had been handeddown from the gods.But what if it was possible?If that happened …the mightiest, never-defeated Extra Seat of the Slaine Theocracymight be vanquished. In other words, that moment would be the end ofall hope, when the defenders of mankind were finally laid low....>While he could not compare to her, he was still an awakened God-kin whoalso possessed many magic items. That Vampire might be powerful, but itwas alone, and if he could make use of his panoply, they should be able to dealwith it.[Volume 4]In summation, there is a discrepancy between Captain and Zesshi for unknown reasons. Likewise she has never lost ever and only will marry someone stronger than her. The Captain mentions that there were near impossible odds in her birth.What we do not know is what those odds are referring to. Was it just her Talent? Was it rare to have a successful Awakened Half breed human? Or did she Awaken her mother and father's blood lines at the same time?What we need to know is the difference in strength of Godkin in history, because just because you Awaken does not mean they are all equally strong. Some could be lower level, so teh luck might refer to Zesshi got the highest ever in history and strong Talent.Or it could be that even amongst two Awakened people, having the child Awaken both blood lines is super rare, Godkin X Godkin or Godkin X High Elf or Godkin X anything Awakened.What we know si Rape King was one of the 13 Heroes in the WN, so he should be at least Hero ranked based off that and his demanor in the LN. So if Zesshi Awakens as a High Elf like him, she should be able to get around 30ish levels form that blood line. Likewise, using the absolute minimum level for Black SCripture Captain, an Awakeened Godkin should also get 58 Levels at least. Let's round to 60.So if we consider the Awaken both sides theory, she would be some Level 90 fluke at least, hence why she has never lost to a fellow Godkin, as well as what that impossible odds statement means.For all we know, she could even be over Level 100 hence why she is the Overlrod of the New World. Just as a Humanoid, she has lower stats than Shalltear since Maruyama has explained humans have about a third less than Heteromorphs.>Skill Points:Skill Points increase with the racial and class levels. The growth rate isin this order: Heteromorphs> Demi-humans> Humans.For a random skill point, a human (Human Race) would be one, a goblin(Demi-human) would be two, and a Skeleton Mage (Heteromorph)would be three. This is only in the case of comparing their best stats,but it should be fine to think of this as the general case.>For the first level, a human has no racial level and so it would go to hisclass. A fighter’s skill point would raise by two. For a first level of human,his skill point would be three (2+1: Class Level and Race), a goblin four(2+2: Racial Level and Race), a Skeleton Mage six (3+3: Racial Leveland Race).In relation to the raising of racial skill points, a human and SkeletonMage would have a ratio of 1:3. At Level 100 it would be 100 to 300(This is a rough estimate). Basically in this way, heteromorphs are strong.However, after taking a new racial class, the rate of skill point increasewould favour the one with more, and so the skill points would alsoincrease.However Heteromorphs have penalties.>For the first level, a human has no racial level and so it would go to hisclass. And rather, she could still have lots of Job classes even at Level 90 and if YGGDRASIL meta is any indicator, this was considerd stronger anyway. Having access to Martial Arts would only further cause this problem to increase, as Martial ARts appear able to bridge larger gaps than Skills ever coudl as seen with Brain and Clementine.It's all speculation at this point, but an absurdly high level person with Martial Arts, a Talent, and a level cap taht may even go beyond YGGDRASIL limits would rightfully qualify as the New World's Overlord.But muh, most people are only to willing to accept she is like 10 levels higher than Black Scripture Captain.

Hidden Gems II: The Last Gemini
While there are tons of games listed below, show some more hidden gems for us to see!
It's the seasonal sale once more, with the Hidden Gems thread clogged up once more until it's an incomprehensible mess. So, for the sake of allowing us to read through this easily once more, here is the fourth sequel to the hidden gems thread. However, I've also expanded this thread with random suggestions from the daily steam-sale thread,

Single Game Recomendations
Commented Recomendations
Space Rangers HD for $3.74 USD. One of my favorite indie space RPG simulation games. Good amount of depth and replay value. Didn't care for the RTS aspect of the game, but you can skip it. Runs on most potato computers. {/u/Jadeddev}
I wonder if you'd also like Drox Operative. That was a hidden gem I picked up and adored a year or two ago. It's similar, in that you're playing an RPG character inside the equivalent of an RTS for the AI factions... And your actions can help elevate (or destroy) factions... {/u/Oneiricl}
Stephen's Sausage Roll is $5.99. It's an incredible movement-based puzzle game. It's not for everyone, but if you like Snakebird, Jelly No Puzzle, etc. this is amazing. {/u/TurtleInSunglasses}
Recursed is a fantastic pure puzzle game with a rather unique mechanic. Think Inception's dream-within-a-dream system, but with puzzle rooms and way, way more complex. It gets fiendishly difficult, but if you are a fan of games like Escape Goat or Braid, it is worth picking up. {/u/OptikalCrow}
Night in the Woods for 14.99$ if you enjoy a story rich game about real life issues filled with deep, interesting and funny dialogues, or want to live in your 20s again. {/u/theheartbenvn}
Last sale, someone in one of these threads sold me on DROD. The discount's not as good this time around (50% off) but if you like your puzzles to be as deceptively evil as possible you really can't do much better. {/u/thatnerdguy}
La-Mulana (67% off/$4.94 USD) is easily my favorite Metroidvania game currently around. It was originally an indie game for PC styled after the MSX. This remake brings it into a more 16-bit style, while still retaining the crushing difficulty. The puzzles in the late game are of a Myst variety, in that a notebook or strategy guide is required. Not for the faint of heart, you will die at a roughly Dark Souls rate. {/u/MaverickLunarX}
Treasure Planet: Battle of Procyon - $2.99 This is far from most people's radar. Risen from the dead and added to Steam, this is more of a gem than 99% of the usual suspects we find in these threads. It's a cheap game with spaceship/fleet battles and more of the Treasure Planet universe. Sure, maybe not the most enthralling space game ever but (I think) it's at least a thrill for those of us who enjoyed the film. {/u/Krylo22}
Next Jump: Shmup Tactics is my frickin' new addiction. Very charming FTL-like premise (Rogue-like spaceship adventure) crossed with turn-based tactical movement/attacks (you take your turn of 2+ actions, and then enemy takes their turn). You can pick up stray energy pellets to replenish your actions, extending your turn into a chain of destruction. {/u/moo422}
Linelight. It's $4.99. It takes 4-8 hours depending on how clever you are and how much of a completionist you are. It's a puzzle game with gorgeous music, clever puzzles, and just enough time to fully explore its idea before leaving on a high note. This game is elegant, clever, and worth its full price. {/u/jbhalper}
Scourge of War: Waterloo Collector's Edition $23.69 "Scourge of War: Waterloo follows in the footsteps of its American Civil War predecessors and takes the action to one of the most famous battles in history. It is by far the most detailed game about the final battle of the War of the Seventh Coalition." {/u/InconceivableAD}
Check out Lemma. The discount isn't as high as I would have liked, considering its been bundled in the past, but still highly recommended. Its basically a first person parkour runner that IMO kicks the shit out of Mirror's Edge. I haven't even played 2 and I still say its superior, its that good. {/u/Yo2Momma}
I`m putting a recommendation in for Simulacra, its 35% off right now (~$3.50 usd I think, not from there). I bought it on my phone yesterday (didn't realise it was on steam) and was up until about 1am playing it. Fantastic lost phone game that turns creepy with a few different endings so quite a bit of replayability. {/u/bullchicken}
Quantum Conundrum is a nice portal-ish puzzle game. Right now the game is discounted to 0,98€ and all the DLC are discounted to 1,99€. But if you go to the page for the Quantum Conundrum DLC: The Desmond Debacl, you can buy the Season Pass for 0,99€, which contains both the game and all of the DLC. {/u/WhoopDeedooBasil}
Shout out for Retro/Grade. It's a rhythm shooter game where you control a space ship going backwards through time after causing a time anomaly. The music is electronic with lots of synth and some vaporwave neon aesthetics. Easy recommend to anyone who likes music games. {/u/SrVekter}
I've been getting back into Dreamcast games lately and played Space Channel 5, a short but fun crazy rhythm game that I had never heard of. I looked it up and found out that there was a sequel Space Channel 5 Part 2 and it was on Steam and happened to be only $1.19 on sale. It fixes many of the issues of the first game and is a lot of fun especially if you like insane Japanese games and 60s scifi. The Dreamcast Collection is also a few dollars more and I recommend it if you've never played any of those games. {/u/whaaa123}
Non-Hidden Gem Thread
Dead Cells Is one of my favorite games to come out in the last year. I have played it since it was first out in early access and I have played every patch. I can say that it is currently the best version it has ever been ever! I always tell myself "one more run" but end up playing for another hour. {/u/KittyCatFish}
I want to recommend A Hat in Time, which is one of my favorite platformers in recent memory. I know I'm probably in the minority, but I'll honestly say I thought it had more charm and humor than Super Mario Odyssey last year, and I honestly enjoyed it more. I'm also returning to it again after finishing it months ago because of the mod support they implemented, which is allowing people to make their own levels and items for the game. 2017 was filled with great games, but this was a suprisingly big standout for me. {/u/iverdawg}
If you're looking for a couch/local co-op I just want to put in a plug for Hidden In Plain Sight. I purchased it last night to play with my daughter and she's crazy for it and pulled a few more people in to play for a couple of hours. I was reading on the reviews that it's only made by one person so it looks a little bland but the gameplay is crazy fun. {/u/greenplasticreply}
Less Commented Recommendations
Firewatch ($4.99/-75) Great story-driven game. Historical low on Steam. Great story-driven game. Historical low on Steam {/u/Dweezy}
Solitairica for $2.49. Fun little rougelite (!) Solitaire {/u/smismismi}
throne of lies is a nice indie mafia/werewolf game at $5 {/u/Coronatum}
Some of you here might want to try Salt and Sanctuary. It's a 2D Souls-lite game, really enjoyed it. {/u/ebilutionist}
Waves -- Stylish twin stick shooter. Various game modes, better than Geometry Wars, IMO. $0.99 (80% off) {/u/msgs}
FTL: Faster Than Light A surprisingly addictive 2D game that is 75% off its already cheap price of $9.99. Picked it up last summer sale, definitely a good buy. {/u/EddySea}
Code 7 is 30% off at $11.89! (First big sale!) A Hacking Adventure with a strong focus on story and characters and full voice-over. {/u/retraffic}
Rogue trooper , fun scifi shooter, a bit on the easier side {/u/vsh92}
Super Cloudbuilt ($9.99 / 50% off) is an extremely fun and challenging parkour game that is built for speedrunning. The original 2014 Cloudbuilt is also on sale for $4.99 / 75% off {/u/RobbyRatpoison}
Check out Run or Die. This is a fun endless runner that is only 49 cents. {/u/properbite}
Crypt of the NecroDancer is on sale for $2.99 from $14.99. It's a rogue-like dungeon crawler with rhythm aspects. Quite fun! {/u/--Petrichor--}
Strongly recommend Iron Fisticle Great little arena shooter with local Co-op EDIT: Get Iron Crypticle instead {/u/vizolover}
Zombie Estate 2 https://store.steampowered.com/app/512490/Zombie_Estate_2/ You might remember Zombie Estate from the XBLIG days.{/u/volt1up}
Zheros is 70% off (historical low): a colorful, vibrant, cartoony, 3D beat 'm up. {/u/imp_Patient}
GTA V actually dropped to $20 on Steam. Miracles can happen.
mark of the ninja at $3.74 is a straight up steal. can't recommend that game enough if you have even a passing interest in stealth and/or action games {/u/falloutboywonder}
I just wanna recommend Axiom Verge for anyone who may be interested in a Sci-Fi Metroidvania with good gameplay, story, and a nice OST. I really had a good time with it myself, and it's only 10 bucks right now. {/u/Deamane}
I'd like to recommend Pyre. It's mainly a visual novel but with a neat little NBA jam-esque game in it. It has really nice characters and the music is relaxing. {/u/a-JoJo-Reference}
Insurgency and Hitman are definitely worth it, and I heard Foxhole is a fun strategy-mmo type game, worth a shot at this price point. Portal 2 is obviously a great game, with nice puzzles and a good storyline. Golf With Your Friends is a fun past-time if you have friends that also own it. {/u/Eastman987}
The Swapper for $2.84 is a steal. Such a great game. {/u/GeneticsGuy}
Uncommented Reccomendations
The Talos Principle is 80% off (30 upvotes) {/u/fastgr}
Barony is on sale {/u/jokerbane}
Road redemption is 50% off. {/u/ZeimusCS}
Dead Pixels $0.92 {/u/volt1up}

River City Ransom Underground is a fun Beat 'em Up at 75% off.

Very short.

Lengthy Praise for Single Games
