To Nail Tech or Not to Nail Tech...That is the question.

Hey guys so I’m super conflicted rn about what to do with my life/free time.

I recently moved to a different state to be closer to my boyfriend and I am not currently employed. So as a consequence I have a lot of free time and no money. I am a college graduate and I want a job in my field but I also love to do nails and want to be able to purse that as well. I’m also in graduate school rn to purse a masters degree. Because I don’t have a full time job I’m conflicted on yet I’m conflicted on wether to use this time to get a nail tech license or if it’s even worth it because I really only plan on doing nails for fun.

I really love nails and I have a strong desire to put art on the hands of other people. I already know exactly what type of nail tech I want to be and what services I want to offer. I don’t really care to work for a salon and I would like to do nails from the comfort of my home. I’m having trouble deciding wether to jump the gun on this or stick to my day job and just do nails on myself and maybe a few friends. Idk 😩 it’s so hard to choose. I’m passionate about my career but I’m also passionate about nails. I don’t want to give up one for the other because then I wouldn’t be happy. Is there anyone else going through this or something like this? What did you do? How would you go about this?

**also I’ve seen a lot of “I worked my butt off to be a nail tech speeches” in response to genuine questions Idk why some people find it offensive that people have more than one passion or interest. It’s okay if you worked hard to get your license. I worked hard to get my Bachelors degree and other job related certifications I have, but I don’t want to stop or deter anyone else from doing what makes them happy. Doing nails makes me happy along with a host of other things and that’s okay.

I usually don’t post to the internets but I’m doing this in hopes that some kindred souls out there wills see this question and relate or have advice...
